Tiebacks and tiedowns
Temporary construction shoring requires robust and reliable support systems to ensure the safety and stability of the project. Tiebacks play a crucial role, offering enhanced lateral resistance and load-bearing capacity.
- Steel: Grade 150 ksi thread bar, or 270 ksi low-relaxation strand
- Bar diameters: 1" to 3"
- Also available: CT-Bolts for mining, tunnelling and reinforcement connections
Tiedowns and other prestressed ground anchors work on the same philosophy as the tieback anchors, with a load transfer to a structure.
infraMOD Grade 150 ksi thread bars and 270 ksi low-relaxation strand anchors have been used successfully as prestressed ground anchors across a wide variety of civil engineering applications.
Soil nails
- Systems: Thread bar and hollow bar
- Grades: Grade 75 and Grade 80
- Drill hole: 4" to 10" diameter, tremie grouted with cement grout
- Working load: Not more than 60% of the bar's ultimate strength
Micropiles
Micropiles have rapidly gained popularity for foundations in urbanized areas or in locations with low headroom and restricted access.
- Diameter: 5" to 12", drilled and grouted in place
- Reinforcement: Steel; infraMOD's larger thread bar diameters are a popular choice
- Best for: Underpinning and emergency repairs
Foundation-bearing micropiles transfer structural loads through weak or unstable soils into competent load-bearing strata, with superior support even in complex geotechnical environments.
They can be installed in virtually any ground condition with minimal vibration and disturbance to existing structures.
Rock anchors
- Principle: A secure connection between surface structures and stable rock deep below
- Advantages: Cost-effective, rapid installation, high bond capacities that limit anchor length
- Installation: Versatile equipment that works from small benches or above unstable slopes
CT bolts
The infraMOD CT bolt is a specialized anchor designed for underground mining, to ensure the stability of rock and prevent the collapse of galleries, tunnels and other subterranean structures.
- Parts: Steel bar with a head at one end; plate and expanding bulb at the other
- How it holds: The bulb expands when the rod is tensioned, anchoring the bolt in the surrounding rock
- Used in: Underground mining, subway tunnels, dams, water works and bridges
