Jay Chaykowski

Jay Chaykowski is infraMOD’s Engineering and Detailing Manager, bringing 30 years of expertise in steel detailing. His extensive background enables him to oversee engineering and detailing efforts for infraMOD’s projects, managing the internal detailing and document control coordinators to ensure clarity and proper document distribution to project stakeholders. Jay also collaborates with external engineering and steel detailing partners responsible for design and shop drawings.

With experience across Infrastructure, Support of Excavation, Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, Oil and Gas, Mining, and Manufacturing industries, Jay is well-versed in adapting to diverse codes, standards, and project challenges. He spent 10 years in-house with a steel fabricator, gaining critical insights into producing clear, concise shop drawings. His career includes 10 years at a steel detailing company, where he advanced from detailer to Detailing Manager, and another decade running his own structural steel detailing business, managing projects for fabricators across Canada.

Jay’s journey began with a Computer-Aided Design and Drafting program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, starting with manual drafting and advancing through AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, Inventor, and ultimately Tekla Structures. With over 20 years of experience using Tekla, Jay leverages his technical training and industry knowledge to identify challenges and develop creative solutions for successful project outcomes.
